So, to study these strange and unexplained phenomena, Brandon Fugal bought the ranch in 2016 and hired Erik Bard as Principal Investigator and Chief Scientist.
As seen in The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch, Erik uses his decades of experience as a scientist to make sense of strange discoveries. And he does it by installing a state-of-the-art surveillance system, such as ground-penetrating radar that constantly monitors the entire property.
Investigating alongside him are astrophysicist, aerospace engineer, and optical scientist Dr. Travis Taylor, ranch supervisor Thomas Winterton, and head of security Bryant “Dragon” Arnold.
The fourth season of The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch premiered on April 18, 2023, and by then Erik had appeared in over 17 episodes.
Erik Bard’s career
Erik Bard is a physicist. He began his career in May 1990 as a process engineer at IBM. After 3 years, he joined Lexmark as an assistant engineer. There he was in a 5-member “think tank” department looking for new printing technologies and research methods to validate them at the R&D level.
In March 2000, Erik joined PowerStream Technology as a Development and Test Engineer. His work there included circuit design, modeling, prototyping, and functional and failure analysis. He worked there for the next 3 1/2 years, and in October 2003 he joined MOXTEK as a Senior Scientist.
In the 5 years he worked at MOXTEK, he gained exceptional experience developing X-ray analytical products, including miniature X-ray sources and detectors. His job there required him to do electronic optical designs for miniature X-ray analytical machines.
He then joined Millenniata as Principal Scientist in December 2008. There he was assigned to research inorganic optical materials and strategy development for DVD laser writing, data acquisition, automation, tool development, production support, and testing. environmental.
From August 2011 to August 2013, Erik worked at Motion Sciences as Scientific Director researching the area of propulsion and power technologies involving highly instrumented rotating energetic bodies, laser interferometry, and polarization studies.
Meanwhile, Erik also founded his company ML3 Scientific in May 2012 with a focus on developing cost-effective new components for use in analytical X-ray systems. His efforts were primarily related to the development of X-ray transmission windows based on in ultrathin films.
He later worked as a freelance physics consultant for CJ’s Toybox (2014-2015) and MicroRay, LLC. (2015), before eventually becoming VP of Engineering at Axcend Corp (a position he held for only 5 months).
