‘Exasperated Delhiites choke’: Shashi Tharoor addresses severe Delhi pollution

With Delhi-NCR’s air quality falling into the ‘severe’ category, residents are grappling with breathing problems and allergy outbreaks, among other ailments. Amidst this, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor addressed Xu talking about air pollution. He shared a screenshot of a message he received on WhatsApp saying ‘outraged Delhiites are suffocating’.

“Not my own creation: this is going around @whatsApp as outraged Delhiites choke and babble under an AQI of 462, almost 19 times the @who safe limit of 25. As one remarked, ‘No wonder the government renamed the main road to Martvya Path!” wrote Shashi Tharoor while sharing a screenshot on X.

According to the screenshot, the billboards highlight air quality issues in the capital. Instead of “Lutyens’ Delhi”, one board reads “Pollutyens’ Delhi”, making a humorous reference to the problems of pollution. Similarly, “Haze Khas” replaces “Hauz Khas”, “Dhua Kuan” replaces “Dhaula Kuan” and “Chandni Choke” humorously transforms “Chandni Chowk”.
