June 26: Martin Hirsch accuses Raoult of being a “false witness”

In this letter, Martin Hirsch specifically disputes two passages from the hearing of Dr. Didier Raoult before the commission of inquiry on June 24: on the one hand, his assessment of the mortality rate of ICU patients, and on the other hand, on an 80-year-old Chinese patient who was hospitalized in Paris at the end of January and died in mid-February – the first death from Covid-19 officially registered outside Asia.

“These statements, which have seriously questioned AP-HP, given under oath, seem to me to be false testimony,” accuses Martin Hirsch in the letter. The director of AP-HP also assures that he has in his possession “any data showing mortality of up to 43% in AP-HP resuscitations”, without specifying how much this rate increases. “On the other hand, there is no published study to date that compares ICU mortality rates, assessed under controlled conditions, between hospitals in Paris and Marseille,” he adds.
Finally, “one 80-year-old Chinese patient who can be referred to as Pr Didier Raoult was admitted on January 25, 2020 to the European Georges Pompidou Hospital. He was never sent home,” says Martin Hirsch in his letter. We remind you that this patient was then transferred “to the Bichat Hospital, a national reference center”, where his daughter, who was also ill, was treated before she recovered.
July 6: Martin Hirsch disputes Raoult’s figures before the Commission
During his own hearing before the commission of inquiry, on July 6, Martin Hirsch does not hesitate to question again the figures published a few days earlier by Didier Raoult. Having data from Si-Vic, the Ministry of Health’s system for monitoring patients in the event of a medical emergency, the director of AP-HP indicates that the death rate in the intensive care unit “appears today on public assistance to be 25%”. According to another source, a patient cohort compiled by AP-HP to monitor patients supported in its 39 hospitals, “we believe this rate is between 31% and 35%,” adds Martin Hirsch. Figures far less than the 16% mentioned by Didier Raoult.
On the April 14, 2020 AP-HP crisis unit report, Martin Hirsch confirms the authenticity of the document, but wanted to emphasize that it was dated “almost three months ago and so out of date”. At that time, according to the same document, about half of the patients hospitalized there for resuscitation were still admitted, and “did not yet know the outcome of their illness [death or healing], adds the director. “No one can give a definitive death rate today: we still have patients who are in intensive care and we hope to save them,” he insists. “My role is not to make percentages for the police, but if they want [influence] Investigative commission based on the data to be biased and biased, my role is to react promptly,” he said in front of the representatives.
