For years, Mina Starsiak Hawk has been thinking about plastic surgery, and in December she realized those ideas.
“I wasn’t happy with my body and what I could achieve just by working out and I didn’t feel like myself,” the 36-year-old Good Bones endorser told Us Weekly exclusively. In December, she had a tummy tuck, liposuction, and breast implants, something many consider a “mommy makeover” package, and she’s proud of it. During her pregnancy, she developed diastasis recti, which created a four and a half inch gap between her abdominal muscles.
So she did what she wanted to do to feel stronger and more confident, and she encourages others to do the same, if that’s what they want.
It’s good to be selfish sometimes,” says Hawk, who shares Charlotte, 4 months, and son Jack, 2, with her husband Steve Hawk. “Whether it’s surgery or even a push-up bra or eyelash extensions , Spanx, spray-painted tan — do it. Anything that makes you feel strong and powerful and beautiful.”
Before the surgery, the HGTV celebrity weighed around 160 pounds. And she currently weighs approximately 148 pounds. Regardless of the changes in her own body, she did not stop working.
“I was doing land inspections while putting up drains and bags,” the estate agent says with a smile. “I had to be very careful about Jack and Charlie coming in for a few months and probably did too much too soon. It didn’t have a big effect on me as a mother though.”
The reality star, who has just released a new children’s novel about inclusivity, has a huge presence on social media, but despite her thousands of followers, she’s faced some hate in the comments section, and she’s doing everything do your best to ignore it.
“A lot of people who say or do bad things do it because it hurts them in some way, so I do my best to take that into account,” Mina says of trolls.
