While on the current episode of Running Wild with Bear Grylls, British actress Florence Pugh revealed that she has tracheomalacia, a rare respiratory illness. On the August 15 episode of the show, the 26-year-old singer said her family was forced to move to warm Spain from rainy England on the advice of a doctor.
“We’re in Spain because I have breathing problems, and when I was a kid, I was told that a warmer environment would be better.” I have asthma and a condition called tracheomalacia. So I really had a weird respiratory system since I was a kid.”
Tracheomalacia, according to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, requires
“Because the cartilage in the trachea, or trachea, has not developed properly or has been destroyed, the wall of the trachea is soft or mushy, rather than stiff. Cartilage cannot keep the trachea open, making it difficult to breathe – especially during exhalation (exhalation). Pressure from nearby blood vessels can sometimes cause the trachea to collapse.”
However, the Black Widow star said her health has improved over time.
“As an adult, unless I’m sick, it doesn’t bother me as much as when I was younger.”
Florence Pugh went on a 48-hour excursion with the Bear Grylls, which began with her jumping out of a helicopter and continuing through the volcanic forests of Costa Rica.

Florence Pugh talked about tracheomalacia
He discussed her experience with tracheomalacia during the coronavirus pandemic with Sue Perkins on her podcast, Sue Perkins: An Hour or So With…, in July 2020. She said,
“I’ve had this respiratory illness since I was a kid, so my mom has to be constantly on the lookout for new infections, new illnesses that can harm me.”
She added that her mother asked her to go to Los Angeles to avoid the new coronavirus. Pugh told reporters her illness has improved over the years because she doesn’t get sick as often as she did when she was younger. However, the Little Women actress told Vogue in 2020 that she still has a “really scary cough” after getting past her initial diagnosis.
