Fortnite guide: How to unlock the Wolverine outfit

One of the highlights Fortnite Marvel-themed Season 4 is the ability to play as Wolverine. You may have seen other players running around in Wolverine’s classic yellow and blue outfit, or even the brown and yellow variety. In the game, it’s not entirely clear how to get the hero’s clothes, but that’s where we come in. In this guide, we’ll detail all the steps you’ll need to take to get both of Wolverine’s outfits, along with a detailed breakdown of the challenges for each.

Here’s how to unlock the Wolverine outfit. Fortnite.

Battle Pass and Challenges

There are a few things you need to know before beginning this process. Most importantly, you will need to purchase the Season Battle Pass for 950 V-Bucks. This is the only way to unlock the challenges needed to get Wolverine’s outfit (and his other cosmetics), so shell out real money (around $8) or use the currency you earned in the previous season to get started with the battle pass. After buying it, you can visit it. Wolverine’s Challenges of combat pass menu to see what you need to do.

Here you can see all the Wolverine challenges for this season. Long story short, you’ll need to complete the first six to unlock the outfit for him. During this season, a new challenge is available every week. But now that all six challenges are live, you can complete them all right away instead of having to wait week after week like other players have. The good thing is that you can complete them in any order, giving you some flexibility as you play. They do not have to be completed in the same game and can be attempted throughout the season (which ends on November 30, 2020). And each challenge you complete unlocks a Wolverine-themed cosmetic item to enjoy, so you’ll have plenty of goodies in your locker at the end of it all.

We covered each challenge at length as they became available, but below we’ll recap the steps to complete each one. Click on the links below to find out how to complete each challenge (or keep reading).

Now that you understand how to get the Wolverine outfit, let’s dive into the specific challenges you need to complete. Most of them are pretty simple, with the exception of the last challenge, which we’ll describe to you later. Here’s how to complete all six of Wolverine’s challenges to unlock his outfit.

First challenge: investigate the mysterious claw marks

The former requires you to investigate mysterious claw marks, and unsurprisingly, the game doesn’t tell you where they are. There are many you can interact with, all located in the Weeping Woods. You only need to interact with three of them to complete the challenge. Simply stand a few meters from the markers and the game will recognize that you have “scouted” them. There are three claw marks here.

First claw marks: RV side

You can grab them in any order, but for guide purposes, we’ll go from south to north. The first set of claw marks is on the green caravan south of the cabins in the center of Weeping Woods. You’ll find more RVs here, but the claw marks are to the northeast of the RVs in this area.

Second claw marks: Rock by the pond

Then head west towards the nearby pond. Here you will see several large rocks or boulders. Enter the water and get close to the rocks to get credit for the next set of claw marks.

Third Claws Traces: West Side of the Cabin

Finally, head to the largest cabin in the north. On the west side of the building, you will find the air conditioning outside. Go here and get close to the wall next to the air conditioner to earn credit for the last game. Note that there are actually more than three claw marks around this area, but these three are close enough that you can quickly investigate them.

Second Challenge: Find a loading screen image on the Quinjet Patrol site

For the next challenge, you need to find the loading screen image on the Quinjet Patrol site. In Season 4, Quinjet Patrol Sites have been added and you’ll need to know how to spot them. At the start of a match, while you are in the Battle Bus, five Quinjets will fly up and land at random locations around the map. After landing, you can enter the planes to collect the loot and loading screen image you are looking for. The jets are marked on the map and can be seen by the blue smoke coming from them.

The loading screen image you’re looking for is inside one of these Quinjets, so pick the one you want (preferably one that’s out of the way so you’re less likely to run into an enemy) and head towards it. Before you get close, you should know that they are heavily guarded by Stark Robots, so stock up on decent weapons beforehand. Try to collect shields and medium to long range weapons so that you can easily destroy the robots from afar. It’s possible to run past them and quickly enter the Quinjet to grab the painting and complete the challenge, but you’ll have to get lucky.

Instead of relying on luck, take out the robots and when they’re all down, get into the Quinjet. Simply access and interact with the image, and you’ll receive credit for completing the challenge. You can now set your new loading screen image from the main menu. It’s quite a stylish image, featuring Wolverine in an action pose with plenty of painterly brushstrokes.

Challenge Three: Find the Wolverine Trophy in the Dirty Docks

The next challenge is to find the Wolverine trophy in the Dirty Docks. The trophy is the head of a Sentinel, which isn’t as morbid as it seems because Sentinels are robots. Go to the southernmost part of Dirty Docks, where you will find a small building. The trophy is located on the bottom floor of this building inside the broom closet. You will have to destroy the shelf in the back to reveal the trophy. Once you do, pick it up and you’ll get credit for completing the challenge.

Now that a few weeks have passed, you shouldn’t be dealing with many players in this area. However, to play it safe, you should grab a nearby weapon to defend yourself in case you accidentally bump into someone. As other major hubs are busier at the time of writing, it’s unlikely you’ll run into other players also heading to the Trophy. Once you pick it up, you can equip it as a Backbling. Something is not convenient for us to have our heads on our backs, but to each his own.

Fourth Challenge: Move all of Sentinel’s arms without touching the ground

The next challenge requires you to move all of Sentinel’s arms without touching the ground. The hardest part of this is simply finding the Sentinel Hands, which are located in the Sentinel Graveyard in the middle of the map, south of The Authority (for the Halloween event, The Authority was changed to The Ruins). If you pull up your map, you can see downed Sentinels northwest of Lazy Lake.

What you want to do is land on the westernmost arm of the Sentinel and let the game do the rest. Don’t touch the controller and you’ll be constantly jumping from one to the next. Here is a video of the entire process in action.

There are six arms in total that you can bounce off of, so leave the controller alone for a few seconds while your character goes for a walk. After the sixth hand, you will receive credit for completing the challenge. In the next!

Fifth Challenge: Locate the Trask Transport Truck

Next, you will need to visit the Trask transport truck, which is located northeast of Coral Castle. The truck stands on high ground and has a hatch in the back that you can climb through. Here is the location on the map.

Just climb inside and you’ll get credit for this challenge. Nothing is difficult here, especially since enemy players are likely to be distracted by other challenges on the map.

Sixth Challenge: Defeat Wolverine

Finally, you will have to defeat Wolverine himself, a task much easier said than done. When the challenge went live, it was particularly troublesome due to the large number of players following it. Now that a few weeks have passed, it might be easier for you. But even if you do run into Wolverine, taking him out is no easy feat. It can be found somewhere between Weeping Woods and Slurpy Swamp at random locations. Please see the map below for reference.

What we recommend is taking the helicopter first so you can easily scan the area for Wolverine. If you fly around the area shown on the map above, you should come across Wolverine in his classic blue and yellow outfit. Let’s hope other enemies don’t try to destroy it. If Wolverine is eliminated first, you won’t get credit for completing the challenge, so try to eliminate nearby players so they don’t “steal” your kill.

We also highly recommend stocking up on medium to long-range weapons beforehand. Wolverine is extremely deadly up close and will take you down almost instantly, so you’ll want to keep your distance while fighting him. Assault Rifles and Burst Assault Rifles are great options for taking him down. Here’s a video of our team taking down Wolverine.

As you can see, even with a full team of players landing on Wolverine, it takes some time to defeat him. Our team fell behind and mostly fired from afar before being able to mount an attack. And to help out, we hacked into some Stark robots at the nearby Quinjet patrol site. You can do this by knocking the robot down and interacting with it. Hacking will cause them to become friendly and fire at any opponent, including NPCs like Wolverine.

If someone on your team takes down Wolverine, the whole team gets the credit for it, so don’t worry about who will kill him. The only thing you need to worry about is other players who might also take up the challenge. After you defeat Wolverine, make sure to finish him off, as you’ll only receive the credits after he’s been completely eliminated. Upon defeat, the game will inform you that you have completed the challenge and Wolverine will drop the familiar claws on him for him to use during the match.

Tight clothes

Once you’ve completed all six challenges above, you’ll unlock both of Wolverine’s outfits: the blue and yellow and brown and yellow variants. To equip them, you will need to go to Cupboard from the main menu and click on the first option, which contains your skins. Here you will see all the outfits you have available and if you click edit style you’ll find both variants in Wolverine. Select the one you want and then press Save and exit to confirm your changes. Now when you start a match you will be dressed as Wolverine. Enjoy! Please note that the outfits will be unlocked forever, even after this season ends.
