If you have purchased other Battle Passes in the past, you may already have enough V-bucks in your account to purchase a new one. Otherwise, you will have to spend real money. Remember, 1000 V-bucks equals about $8.
Once you have purchased the battle pass, you need to use your stars to unlock the Toona fish. This is a similar system to last season, so if you’ve played it you should be familiar with how it works. As you level up your battle pass, you earn stars. These stars serve as the currency used to purchase Battle Pass items, giving you some agency with the order you choose to unlock things. To unlock the Toona fish, purchase the character on the first page of the battle pass. It costs nine stars, so if you’re low, keep playing to earn more.
How to Customize the Toona Fish
Once you unlock the Toona fish, you will be able to get your hands on different color styles. Open it combat pass menu and select draw a toon fish option. Here you will see 21 different colors that you can access, along with 21 additional character styles. These all match the range of colors available for your Toona Fish. To unlock a certain color, you will need to find three bottles in a certain area.
For example, the first option is Knightly Crimson, and you need to collect three colored bottles in Fort Crumpet to unlock it. If you find all three, you will get this color. In total, there are 63 different bottles to collect, making for 21 primary colors. The good thing is that each bottle is marked on your map, which means you won’t have to spend hours looking for every nook and cranny in a given area.
As for character styles, they work like color bottles, but with an extra step. Once you’ve unlocked a bottle of a certain color, you’ll also have the option to get a character style to match. To access it, you need to spend rainbow ink (gained from opening chests). Each character style costs 10 rainbow inks, so keep that in mind when you start collecting colored bottles.
