Gervonta had something else that made him stand out. “He was very talented and he listened,” Ford said. “I didn’t have to tell him twice what to do.”

Davis’s mother, Kenya Brown, said school officials who contacted her about his frequent fights told her he was a “threat to society” but she insisted he was not the instigator. After her brother brought Gervonta to Upton and he started playing sports, “people really started to try it out more,” Kenya said. The New York Times.
