Meet Keaton Ashton, Winner of the 2021 Kids Baking Championship
Speaking to the Food Network, Keaton Ashton said he didn’t go into the competition thinking he was going to win the entire show. “My only goal was to get through the first few challenges,” Keaton told the Food Network. However, pastry prodigy Keaton was crowned the winner of the 2021 Kids Baking Championship. The show ran for 10 weeks and saw aspiring young bakers compete for a $25,000 grand prize and the chance to be featured on Food Network magazine.
Keaton competed against Haylin Adams of Glasgow, Kentucky, Jonah Anderson of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Prospect Park, Pennsylvania native Cydney Cain, Andrew Clark of Madison, Mississippi, Trey Gordon of Davenport, Iowa, Beall Luu of San Jose, California, D ‘ Von Mills from Lithonia, Georgia, Namiah Phillips from Long Beach, California, Miabella Ramirez from Katy, Texas, McKenzly Sandefer from Conway, Arizona, and Nemo Tsai from Ann Harbor, Michigan.
In the final, Keaton faced Bella Luu and Konah Anderson. The show was filmed in the summer of 2020 in Southern California. The last three weeks of the competition proved to be very competitive and she ended up winning the entire show with three Biome-inspired cakes.
Judges Duff Goldman and Valerie Bertinelli picked Keaton the winner of the show for her creativity and consistency.
Along with the incredible prize money of $25,000, Keaton shared that he wants to buy a new aquarium and save the rest to help finance college. She also received a set of Food Network brand baked goods and one of his original cakes featured at Bakery Charm City Cakes.

Keaton’s mother, Michelle Ashton, was with him in Los Angeles watching him prepare recipes, while his father Joel and three older sisters were at home cheering him on.
“After the first few roasts, I honestly thought she was doing pretty well because she handled the pressure well,” Michelle told the East Idaho News. “He managed his time well and that’s a big key in that show because everything is so timed. If you run out of time, your cakes won’t be good.”
Although Michelle doesn’t bake, she took her son to a cake class for his 11th birthday, which encouraged him to take up baking as a hobby.
Adding more about the experience, Michelle revealed: “Overall, it was such a beautiful and great experience that we can never repeat. It was intense, but it was a lot of fun to see how they edited the show and put it all together. I like that Keaton is portrayed as a good guy. I feel like they showed their true colors.”
Michelle attended Madison Senior High School and then Ricks College, ISU, and BYU-Idaho for a college education.
Who is Keaton Ashton’s father?
Keaton’s father, Joel Ashton, is a fourth-generation potato farmer from Rexburg, Idaho. But he appears to be from Othello, Washington. He married his wife Michelle on August 6, 1998.
Additionally, Joel shared with Idahopotato.com that he is proud to become a farmer. His family grew superior foods to feed America and provide the local community with employment opportunities during the summer and fall.
