Ghost of Tsushima fans can’t wait to get to Iki Island, a brand new story expansion in the The director’s version of Ghost of Tsushima. Sucker Punch delivered on its promise to improve a game that most fans agreed was already perfect. With brand new features, updated graphics and a new area to explore, The director’s version of Ghost of Tsushima there are new and returning players asking one question: How to get to the island of Iki?
When does Iki Island unlock?
If you are starting from scratch, Iki Island is unlocked at the beginning of Act II, after you unlock the Toyotama region of Tsushima. By then, you’ve unlocked the grappling hook and, ideally, all four fighting stances. After you reach the second act:
Step 1: Choose Magazine card from Break Menu.
Step 2: You will be notified Stories about Iki is now available.
Step 3: Choose Stories about Iki and then follow the story A journey into the past.
Step 4: Follow the wind directions to start your journey to Iki Island.

PS4 save data transfer
If you have transferred your PlayStation 4 save data to The director’s version of Ghost of Tsushima, you will be notified that Iki Island is available by a popup on your screen as soon as you load the save file. Of course, you’ll need to get to the start of the second act on that save. You’ll still get the same notification as if you were starting over.
Jin follows the direction wind to the Drowned Coast, where the villagers seem to have lost their minds. He will be introduced to Shamans, a new type of enemy, and will have to fend off the oncoming Mongols as he tries to figure out what’s going on.
Iki itself is an island off the southeast coast of Tsushima. Players can’t get there unless they complete this introductory mission and hop on a ship across the sea. This boat trip leads Jin on a quest to build character, returning to a place where the name Sakai is no longer welcome. The people of Iki don’t care too much for the Ghost of Tsushima, and Jin learns early on that Khan was just the beginning.
How difficult is the island of Iki
The island of Iki is not easy. Players who have just reached the second act will have difficulty surviving on the island of Iki and will remain there until they progress far enough in the story of Iki. Although they only have to go through a few missions Stories about Iki for a quick trip back to Tsushima, underequipped players may not enjoy the full potential. Furthermore, treating Iki Island as an epilogue makes for a better experience.
Returning players can jump right into Iki Island with everything they’ve learned and earned through the base game. Those eager to see what’s in store can load their PS4 save game, but it’s imperative that they don’t enter New Game+.
The second island Iki unlocks
There are several new mechanics that Iki Island adds to the game. One is the horse charge maneuver, which allows your horse to charge through roaming groups of Mongols. The mount attack is a great way to build up your Ghost Stance (if you’ve already unlocked it) and makes defeating those traveling groups of enemies much easier.
You’ll also unlock horse armor, which makes your horse just as deadly as your katana. Bringing both of these mechanics back to Tsushima in your quest to kill Khotun Khan will make Jin’s life easier.
