Highest Partnerships in ICC Cricket World Cup

Cricket is a team sport and requires considerable balance from the players, especially in long formats such as One Day International and Test cricket.

Unlike Twenty20 games, players do not try to hit boundaries from the first ball and need time to assess the pitch and settle. Sometimes batsmen can settle down too much and end up scoring double centuries while in their element.

The World Cup also saw some remarkable clashes between batsmen who registered colossal partnerships. A good partnership is crucial for ODI games as it shifts the momentum to the batsmen’s side and gives confidence to successful bowlers.

The record for the highest partnership in a World Cup goes to West Indies’ Marlon Samuels and Chris Gayle, who scored 372 runs against Zimbabwe in the 2015 World Cup.

No other team has even come close to that huge record and the previous best partnership was between India’s Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid. It came against Sri Lanka in the 1999 World Cup.
