The toy giant follows more than 400 companies, including Adidas, Coca-Cola, Levis, Unilever and Starbucks, who have joined the #stophateforprofit movement.

The plastic giant, Denmark’s Lego, announced on Wednesday the suspension of paid advertising on all social networks for at least 30 days, joining a list of trademarks with a suspension similar to the name of the fight against hate on the networks.

“We are committed to a positive impact on children and the world they will inherit. This means contributing to a positive and inclusive digital environment, free of hate speech, discrimination and misinformation,” explained the group’s marketing manager, Julia Goldin, in a press release.

At the beginning of June, Lego engaged against racism through a donation of 4 million dollars in the wake of global mobilization against xenophobia and racial violence after the death of George Floyd.

The toy giant follows more than 400 companies, including Adidas, Coca-Cola, Levis, Unilever and Starbucks, who have joined the #stophateforprofit movement which calls for all advertising on Facebook and sister platform Instagram to be suspended in July to encourage review its copy for political disinformation and toxic content. Like Lego, some companies apply the same decision to all social networks.
