The scientific council that enlightens the government and the high health administration to report the words under “slander” at the hearing of Didier Raoult.

Some of the remarks made by Didier Raoult before the Commission of Inquiry on Covid-19 are “defamation” and fall under “defamation”, accused by the Scientific Committee, which sheds light on the government and the High Authority for Health (HAS) in letters to the National Assembly that was obtained by AFP on Thursday.

In another official email consulted by AFP on Wednesday, the AP-HP (public aid – hospitals in Paris) considers that Professor Raoult’s statements “appear to be false testimony”.

“Regarding the following statements by Pr Raoult before the investigative committee on June 24, 2020, the members of the Scientific Council of Covid-19 consider his remarks and insinuations to be slanderous and unfounded,” writes the president of the Scientific Council and Jean-François Delfraissy, in a letter dated June 30. It was addressed to the President of the Commission, Brigitte Bourguignon, the Commission’s rapporteur, Eric Ciotti, and the chairman of the meeting, Richard Ferrand.

“Intent to deceive”

This letter, which is linked to 12 of the 13 members of the Scientific Council, specifically points to allegations of conflict of interest made by Didier Raoult at the hearing. According to Pr Delfraissy, Professor Raoult showed “a certain form of ‘intent to deceive'” the members of the Commission by “repeatedly causing confusion between concepts, but different relationships and conflicts of interest”.

In a separate post dated July 1, addressed to Richard Ferrand, HAS President Dominique Le Guludec also disputes Pr Raoult’s conflict of interest claims. “To say in front of the national representative office, vaguely and unsubstantiated, that HAS is subject to a ‘very serious conflict of interest’ is a matter of slander,” Pr Guludec writes. “I could not accept that the reputation of a high health authority, its professionalism and integrity could be called into question with such ease at a moment as important as the hearing of parliamentarians,” she concludes.
