Using PDFgear to convert PDFs to Excel documents
PDFgear is a free PDF reading and editing application for you to download and use. It has a very simple user interface and is our preferred method for converting PDFs to Excel documents.
PDFgear is available for use on Windows, macOS, and iOS.
Note: The following instructions only show how to use the desktop application. These instructions are written based on the Windows version of PDFgear.
Step 1: Go to the PDFgear website, then download and install the desktop version of the app compatible with your device.
Step 2: Open the PDFgear application on your computer. Then choose Convert from PDF tab.

Step 3: Choose PDF to Excel button. On the PDF to Excel screen that appears, select Add file.
Select the PDF file you want to convert, then select Open.

Step 4: Now select the big red one Convert button.
Step 5: After the conversion is complete, the location of your newly converted file will appear on the screen. From here you can access your new Excel file.
Note: The formatting of your new Excel file may be a little off, so you may need to edit the spreadsheet until it looks the way you want.
Using a free web application
We get it, PDFgear may not work for everyone. There are many reasons why you can’t install such applications on your system, or perhaps you’d simply prefer a remote server to do the bulk of the work for you. That’s okay — there are other methods you can use to convert these files.
Instead, you always have the option to convert a PDF to an Excel document online. While there are a number of online converters to choose from, we have a favorite. We highly recommend PDFtoExcel.com because it’s free, has a clean user-friendly interface, and does a great job quickly.
