History unfolds in this Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers Amaurot dungeon guide

Congratulations on achieving what could be Final Fantasy XIVbest dungeon ever. After the ups and downs of your adventure, Emet-Selch has decided to physically show you what he’s fighting for and what he’s trying to undo.

Practically taking you back in time with his fancy creation magics, you will witness the calamity that befell Amaurot, the ancient city of his people. In this FFXIV: Shadowbringers Amaurot Dungeon Guide, we’ll take you through what came before.

The first Beast

Like something outside Bloodborne, The first beast is truly a horrible monstrosity. His gaping mouth and piercing white eyes can easily haunt your dreams. And they are going to haunt you.

Venomous Breath is a conal AOE, but nothing a team won’t avoid if they tank it the normal way. Each meteor shower should be placed on the same side of the arena to limit the proximity based impact zone. Run to the opposite side when the mark disappears from your head and avoid all the falling sky marks that pop up along the way. Then from line of sight get to the boss by standing behind one of the recently collapsed rocks to avoid The Final Sky and prepare to run again to avoid the falling buildings. You will see a text prompt for this.

From there, it’s pretty much a cycle. Just expect non-stop Falling Sky barrages from here on out. You may need to eat one during The Final Sky to avoid being caught stoneless. As long as you haven’t taken it before then it shouldn’t be life threatening.

Terminus Bellwether

Here you will notice that the HP drops quickly. But don’t expect a short fight. At 50%, Terminus Bellwether hits the team with Shrill Shriek and exits the arena. In its place come waves of monsters that you have to dispatch. Focus detonators on DPS – healers will need to heal using self-destruct while dying. In the second set, focus your attention on Roiler before his Healing Magic Down debuff causes problems. Take down the last wave and the Terminus Bellwether will collapse back down.

From here, it’s just a DPS race. Burn him before he finishes throwing the Flare and you’ll walk away victorious. After taking a weakened Burst, anyway. Before doing this, make sure you are topped up. 50k+ damage is enough to shave off about 80% of your HP.

Therion

This is one of the most claustrophobic fights ever. Therion is doing a laser show. Shadow Wreck is your AoE for the entire attack, but expect each attack to hit more than one player regardless.

Throwing in Apocalypse is your cue to run to one of the tiny platforms at either edge of the arena – avoid the glowing ones as they’ll break during the throw. Be careful not to fall and stay until the laser cannon stops. You’ll want to retreat further down the arena to avoid taking too much damage during Therion Charge. With each throw, the boss will move closer to you, slowly reducing the available space.

Then comes the Deathly Ray – a series of lasers from the face that appear from the left and right. Only one side will fire at a time, but there’s no easy way to know which will fire first. Just get out quickly if you get caught and be ready to move to avoid the next one. Shortly after, Deathly Ray will shoot across the arena in a similar manner. At this point, you’ve seen just about everything there is to see. Just learn to deal with the increasingly rare arena and finish it off.
