Hogwarts Legacy: how to solve every Merlin Trial

Even in the Harry Potter universe, the mythical Merlin remains a legendary figure in the wizarding world. In case of Hogwarts Legacy, you will have many side activities, quests and challenges to complete in the open world, but one set is inspired by this powerful wizard. Trials of Merlin are unlocked and placed all over the map after completing the main quest “Trials of Merlin”. This will present you with the kind of magical challenges that these trials will present, but not all of them. Here are all the different types of Merlin tests. Hogwarts LegacyAnd how do you plan to solve them?

How to pass all of Merlin’s tests

A large green figure of Merlin.

Although there are many, 85 in fact, there are nine basic types of tests that you will find. They will all change in some way, but will still require the same solution. Note that some trials require your character to know certain spells, so if you haven’t unlocked them yet, the trials will not be solvable. If you’re ever unsure what to interact with during rehearsals, use Revelio to illuminate interactive objects.

Roll the ball (requires Depulso)

This type of test requires you to use the Depulso spell to knock down a large orb into a specific pit in the ground. Just push them in until they click into the slot. Some experiments may require you to burn the debris in the hole first, so keep that in mind.

Stack the balls (requires Accio)

This is another moving ball puzzle, but this time the balls are small and you have to pick them up and place them in the slots on the different platforms.

let the balls go

One of the simpler attempts, this one just asks you to shoot a bunch of targets around an area with any offensive spell. The only hard part may be finding them all.

break the panels

Almost identical to the previous test, but this time you only need to mine the green stone slabs.

Light the torches (requires Confringo)

This type of clue requires you to light three torches before any of them go out. As soon as you light the first torch, it will begin to sink into the ground, extinguishing the flame when fully submerged. Some torches are on higher platforms than others, so it’s usually best to start with them to give yourself more time.

Follow the moths (Lumio required)

Using your Lumio spell, you need to bring all three groups of moths to the glowing statue. When you bring all three groups of moths to the statues, you are done.

Repair statues (needs repair)

A simple path, this one tasks you with finding three broken statues and repairing them with your Repair spell.

Combine symbols (requires Flipendo)

A set of three columns, each with two sections, will be in that area. Each side of the sections bears a symbol that you have to flip through using Flipendo to match the symbols in each column.

platforms

The final type of test is a simple test of your platforming skills. You just need to overcome a series of obstacles from stone platforms to the end without falling down. During some testing, we found that you can sit on your broom and fly over the platforms to activate them. While we’re not sure if this is a bug that could be fixed later, it makes those challenges easier for now.
