In addition to all the combat skills, there are tons of upgradeable crafts to craft and collect. These combine to create a complex leveling and progression system, but one that rewards you for every action you take in the game. Whether you want to be a dominant force on the battlefield or the best chef in Aeternum, here’s what you need to know about progression and classes in New world.

Since there are so many activities to get lost in, New world has decided to split its progression system into three unique categories — Attributes, Weapon Mastery, and Trade Skills. It may seem complicated to newcomers, but it’s actually an intuitive system that gives you a constant sense of progress.
Basic attributes
Most actions in New world it will grant you some XP to improve your character’s overall level. Whenever you reach a new level, you will get some points to increase your basic attributes. These attributes affect your total HP, Mana, and ability to use certain weapons and deal damage. All five key attributes relate to your effectiveness in combat, and include:
- Force
- Dexterity
- Intelligence
- Concentration
- Constitution
These can be freely placed until you reach level 20, so don’t be afraid to change your allocations often and test your playstyle with different base attributes.
Weapon Mastery

Increasing your character’s overall level and upgrading basic attributes will only get you so far — you’ll also need to hone your skills with each type of weapon. Weapon mastery is New worlda reward mode for holding certain types of weapons and unlocking powerful skills. Weapon Mastery is leveled up by killing opponents with certain weapons. When you reach a new level of weapon mastery, you’ll be able to pick up new active and passive skills associated with that gear.
For example, increasing the Strength Core attribute will allow you to deal more damage with great axes and swords. However, you won’t gain access to unique skills for any weapon type unless you actively use them in combat and increase your weapon mastery.

Completely separate from your basic attributes and weapon mastery, trade skills offer you a relaxing way to spend your time in New world. These are further divided into collect, refine, and craft categories, and you’ll need to complete very specific tasks to level them up. The higher your rank, the better items you will be able to collect, improve or craft.
You’ll often find that this is best handled in groups, as collecting one type of resource can be refined and crafted into something new — making it easy to level up three trade skills at once.

Tips and tricks for getting ahead in the New World

- Try all weapon masteries as soon as possible. Many of the game’s resources and attribute allocations are freely reset until you hit level 20. Because of this, you’ll want to try as many weapon combos as possible before you hit that limit—otherwise you’ll have to spend the rare Azoth resource for respect.
- Focus on ranged combat and close combat. New world it gives you two different weapon slots, and most players will find that a combination of one melee weapon and one ranged weapon works best. This allows you to engage enemies from a distance and reduce their HP bar before they start attacking you at close range.
- Feel free to use your own warehouse for storage. This is essentially your bank, and making frequent stops should give you a smoother leveling experience — especially if you’re a crafter. Resources can quickly overwhelm your inventory, so staying near a settlement and leaving things in storage allows you to continue gathering without a ton of downtime.
