This is the latest optical illusion to hit the internet, and it’s truly devilish.

Appearing on Reddit, the tricky challenge centers around a black and white drawing of an elephant.

But people are still confused about how many legs the magnificent beast has, since they all seem to blend together.

The optical illusion is thought to have first appeared in the 1980s, but now it’s back with a vengeance to divide a whole new audience.

Some commentators believe that the elephant has the prescribed four legs, while others think that the answer could be five.

However, one viewer claims that there is a definitive answer to the riddle of the image, although you would never guess it at first glance.

According to the eagle-eyed observer, the elephant in the drawing has only ONE leg.

They wrote: “The only correct elephant foot in the drawing is the left hind foot. That foot is fully intact, but the others are not.”

“If you look very carefully, you’ll see that the rest of the legs are missing a foot. Basically, the artist cut the feet off the legs and put images of the feet between the actual legs.

“Look closely at the image and you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about.”

The mystifying image comes after we shared an image of a coral reef with a hidden creature lurking within.

An octopus lurks somewhere in the water scene, but you’ll need a very keen eye to spot it.

The stunning photograph was taken on the iconic Great Barrier Reef and was selected as an Editors’ Choice in BMC’s 2017 Environmental Image Contest.

It was taken by Greek-born photographer Michelle Achlatis, a PhD student at the University of Queensland’s Coral Reef Ecosystem Laboratory.

The clever creature blends in well on the rocky ridge.
