Fortunately, Nigerian Afrobeat musician Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, better known onstage as Wizkid, has been nominated for a Billboard Music Award for his hit song “Essence,” featuring Justin Bieber on the remix.
Along with Doja Cat, Silk Sonic, Given and Justin Bieber, the hit song “Essence” is nominated for the Best R&B Finalist category.
Unfortunately, they lost out to Silk Sonic, an R&B duo who won their first Billboard Music Award for Top R&B Song.
Some fans of the rivalry have taken to social media to mock the Afrobeat heavyweight champion, who has one of the best albums to ever come out of Africa.
Fans accused Wizkid, who began recording music at the age of 11, of paying $100,000,000 to be nominated for a 2022 Billboard award.

“So according to Wizkid’s assistant Godson, they spent close to $200,000 just to get billboard nominations and he lost again. That’s what happens when your career is based on Payola and its characteristics.”
Another person also came to create a fake Twitter account with that name Billboard Music Awardand posted a tweet that said:
“Congratulations to all of our past winners! Tune in to #BBMA TONIGHT at 8pm ET/5am PT.”
