Scarlet Pokemon and Violet it holds many secrets in the vast open region of Paldea. Among the hundreds of Pokémon you’ll naturally encounter and battle are four hidden Legendary Heroes that are not only difficult to battle, but also require a lot of work to find. Chien-Pao is a particularly strong addition to any trainer team, so here’s how you can catch this sleek and powerful Pokemon in crimson and Violet.
How to Catch Chien-Pao
Chien-Pao, like the other three legendary u Scarlet Pokemon and Violet it is hidden in a shrine that you need to unlock first. When you’re done, you’ll have a chance to fight and capture it.
Step 1: Collect the eight yellow Sinister Stakes in the Paldea region as seen on the map below. After pulling the last stake, you will hear a mysterious scream coming from the shrine.
Step 2: Chien-Pa’s shrine, Icerend Shrine, is located in the Western Province (Area One) near where the Open Sky Titan lives.
If you complete all of the history lessons in school and continue to talk to Mrs. Raifort after that, she will eventually tell you the old Paldean story of the Ruined Quartet and mark the location of Icerend Shrine and other shrines on your overworld map.
If you didn’t take the course, you can still find Icerend Shrine by exploring. The location is on the map below. You will need to be able to climb or slide with your Ride Pokémon to reach this location.
Step 3: Chien-Pao is a level 60 Dark/Ice type. If you’re going to catch him, don’t use powerful fire or stone Pokemon that might accidentally knock him out. Use whatever you have that is resistant to ice moves, plus some Ultra Balls, for the best chance of catching.
