How to deactivate your Instagram account (or delete it)

If you’re a bit tired of Instagram, consider deactivating your account. With Instagram, you have two options: you can learn how to deactivate your account, or you can delete it entirely. We’ll go over both options, so you can decide if you’d rather take a break or cut ties with Instagram forever. Just be careful because deleting your Instagram account permanently deletes all your content and you won’t be able to get it back.

Temporarily deactivate your Instagram account

By temporarily disabling your Instagram account, your profile, along with your photos, likes, and comments, will be hidden and will remain hidden until you log back in and reactivate your account. Disabling your account is the perfect way to take a break from Instagram. Another option to consider is to simply mute a few friends, if that is the main reason for disabling your account.

The following instructions only work for Instagram accounts that don’t use a Facebook account to log in. If you want to disable your Instagram account, but your account uses Facebook to log in, you will need to remove your Facebook account from your Instagram account. and then reset your Instagram account password. To do this successfully, you will need to have access to the email account associated with your Instagram account. Note: The instructions below reflect the best available method to disable Instagram based on the latest version of the Instagram UI. However, the steps below may not work always or for everyone. In fact, although we have been able to confirm the steps below, it is still not clear if this method actually deactivates the Instagram account or simply logs you out. And Instagram’s own Help Center article about it even says that this method may not work “at this time.”

Here’s how to deactivate your Instagram account:

Step 1: Visit Instagram.com using a web browser.

If you are not logged in yet, log in to your Instagram account.

Step 6: Select from the menu that appears Deactivation or removal. Then select the account you want to deactivate.

Step 7: On the next screen select Deactivate account. Then scroll down to select Continue button. You will then be asked to enter your account password.

Step 8: Now select the reason to deactivate your Instagram account from the given list of reasons. then choose Continue.

Step 10 – The above steps can work for anyone as long as they have a personal computer, an Internet connection, and a web browser.

The Instagram mobile app can allow users to disable their accounts and uses an Account Center method similar to steps 1-9. Both the Android and iOS versions of Instagram may differ slightly in their methods, but the following steps should still generally apply to both platforms.

Open the Instagram mobile app and then:

You can set the auto wake option or choose Do not reactivate automatically from the drop down menu. choose Continue. Finally, confirm the deactivation of the account by selecting Deactivate account.

Delete your Instagram account permanently

If you know that you will definitely not return to Instagram, you can permanently delete your account. It is important to note that deleting your account will delete your profile, photos, videos, comments, likes, and followers. There is no way to get them back once the process is complete. Also, you won’t be able to use that same username again if a new user takes it before you decide to log in with it again.

According to the Instagram help guide, there are two ways to delete your account: you can follow the steps we have already outlined in the deactivation section above and simply select the “delete account” option instead of “deactivate” when prompted. request, or you can follow the alternative method described below.

If you are sure you want to delete your account, follow these steps:
