There are some things you should be aware of before you decide to delete your ChatGPT account:

However, the user interface described in the OpenAI official help guide looks different from the one tested at the time of writing, as if the user interface has recently changed from the version shown in the official guide.
Here’s how to delete a ChatGPT account:
Step 1: Log in to your ChatGPT account, then select your username in the lower left corner of the screen.

Step 4: On the deletion confirmation screen that appears, you’ll be given more information about what the deletion process involves, and then you’ll need to enter your email address and the word “DELETE” to confirm your request to delete your ChatGPT account.
Read that information and if you still want to delete your account, type your email address in the labeled text field Enter your account email.
Then type “DELETE” in the text box with the field label To continue, type “DELETE” in the input field below.

Step 5: Once these fields are filled, red Delete my account permanently button will appear. Select this button.
You should then be redirected back to the ChatGPT login page. If you try to sign in to your account using the same email address, you should see Oops! an error page explaining that you don’t have an account “because it has been deleted or deactivated.”
That’s it! Your ChatGPT account should have been successfully deleted.
