How to find hidden Unown in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

The world of Pokémon has always been full of secrets, rumors and myths. What are the hidden Unown?

These mysterious symbol Pokémon are scattered throughout various areas of the Hisui region. There are 28 Unknowns in total, and only one of each. Again, they should be thought of less as Pokémon and more as collectibles that happen to be Pokémon. As such, each of them will always appear in the same places, either stuck to walls or hanging from the environment.

Each Unown corresponds to one letter of our alphabet, plus two more that are for exclamation points and question marks. By simply replacing Unown with an English letter, you can read all messages written in Unown.

Your Pokédex can give you some hints on where to find hidden Unown, but they aren’t always the most helpful, especially for those in some hard-to-reach locations. Plus, they’re written in an unknown alphabet, meaning you’d have to decode them just to get a general clue. Once you spot it, all you have to do is hit it with any Pokéball to capture it and add it to your Pokédex. Because some can be high or far, feather balls are useful for increasing throwing range.

Is there a reward for finding all the hidden Unown?

Yes and no. On the one hand, you get a perfected Pokédex entry for the Unknown by finding them all, but that’s really it. There are no bonus items or anything for collecting them all; however, there’s a ton of stuff locked behind completing your Pokédex, so it’s worth it in that regard as well.

How to find every hidden Unown

These are the locations for all 28 hidden Unowns in alphabetical order, with the first step corresponding to Unown A, 2 to B, 3 to C, and so on, with the Unown punctuation at the end. Again, you don’t have to fight anyone — simply spot and throw a Pokéball at them to add them to your Pokédex. It is also recommended that you wait to hunt them until you have a horse with the ability to fly, as this will dramatically shorten the process.

Step 1: A Unown is in the Crimson Mirelands. Go to Diamond Settlement and look for the large dark gray tents. Sticking to the top around the back of one is this secret Unown.

Step 2: Unown B is in Cobalt Coastlands on Firespit Island. When you approach the Alpha Ninetails near the volcano, look high up the mountain wall to spot this spy letter.

Step 3: You go to the Coronet Highlands for Unown C. In the Shrouded Ruins, east of the Sacred Plaza, climb up the ruin pillars to come face to face with this Unown.

Step 4: In Crimson Mirelands, go to the northwest side of the map, west of the river to the abandoned camp. Unown D will rest on a stump.

Step 5: In the Obsidian Fieldlands, first go to the Grueling Grove at the northeast end of the map and go to the smallest island in the area. Glued to the tree will be Unown E.

Step 6: Back in the Coronet Highlands, travel to the ancient quarry and look up at the mountain. Unown F is watching you from one of the jagged peaks near the top, so make sure you have a light ball to throw all the way up there.

Step 7: The Unknown G is in the Obsidian Fieldlands right above Obsidian Falls. Right at the top of the waterfall you can spot the Unknown stuck on a rock.

Step 8: This sneaky Unown is in Jubilife Village. Look at the sign hanging above the south gate that leads straight into the village and you’ll notice that the Unown H blends into the letters.

Step 9: Unown I is right next to the entrance to Lake Verity in the Obsidian Fieldlands. Simply go around to the back of the cave entrance to grab this small letter.

Step 10: Back at the ancient quarry in the Coronet Mountains, Unown J is stuck high up on a wall in a stone tunnel.

Step 11: Unown K is in the Crimson Mirelands Shrouded Ruins, but luckily not everything is so hidden. Just find the huge red pile and you’ll see the Unknown at the top.

Step 12: Returning to the Coronet Highlands, Unown L is inside the Wayward Cave. Here it’s on the walls, which are dark, but the big white eye is a dead giveaway.

Step 13: Head a bit south of the Mound of Sludge into the Crimson Mirelands, not far from where you’ll encounter Ursaluna, and check the fallen trunks. Stuck at the end of one is Unown M.

Step 14: One crafty in the Cobalt Coastlands hangs far at the end of Sand’s Reach. Go to the giant rocks sticking out of the water. The unknown N hangs on the way up on the north pole.

Step 15: Now move on to Alabaster Icelands, you need to go down into the cave next to Icebound Falls. By one of the ice pillars, near the roof, is an Unown O.

Step 16: Unown P relaxes in a flower bed at Fabled Spring in Coronet Highlands. Keep your eyes open for the big eye watching you hidden in the flowers.

Step 17: Q Unown is also a nature lover, hidden just outside the entrance to Turnback Cave in the Cobalt Coastlands. Look at the tree outside and notice that one of the branches doesn’t belong.

Step 18: In another Cobalt Coastlands area, this time Lunker’s Lair, Unown R is lying flat on a cliff near the grass.

Step 19: Unown S is confused by timber and used in Alpha Bibarela Dam at Tidewater Dam in Obsidian Fieldlands. Go to the water and you will see that it is mixed with wood.

Step 20: Near the middle of Alabaster Icelands, right next to Avalugg’s Legacy, check the ice pillars around the area. Unown T will stick out like saliva.

Step 21: Unown U is also on Alabaster Icelands, at Heart’s Crag. It is located high on top of the waterfall.

Step 22: Deep in the Crimson Mirelands, Unown V hangs from a tree stuck in the mud at the west end.

Step 23: Unown W is also tricky in Jubilife Village. Look at the roof of the Galaxy Hall building, specifically the Magikarp statue. This Unknown merges with the statue’s eye.

Step 24: Now to the Grandtree Arena in the Obsidian Fieldlands, the same place where you fight Kleavor, Unown X is sitting on top of a tree branch.

Step 25: The Unknown Y is far down to the south at Icebound Falls on Alabaster Island. The waterfall is frozen, with this Unknown stuck in the snow.

Step 26: Our final Unown letter, Z, is found on a wrecked ship in the Deadwood Haunt in the Cobalt Coastlands. It hangs on the highest mast near the stern of the ship.

Step 27: Unknown! is south of Snowfall Hot Spring on Alabaster Island, but hangs almost in the topmost branches of the bare trees.

Step 28: Finally, Unown? is simple at Jubilife Village. Just go to the back of your house and it will dry on the clothesline.
