How to get shiny statues in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

The best part about the current batch of Pokémon remakes is how faithful they are to the originals. They give old-school fans an experience almost identical to what those classic games were, albeit with some quality-of-life improvements and an obvious graphical upgrade that also allows new fans an easy way to experience some of the most beloved entries in the series. The latest couple of remakes, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shiny Pearlthey stick to that formula, but have expanded some features in a very natural way.

The Great Underground was a simple concept in the original games, but it’s been revamped and evolved into a zone you can easily spend hours diving into. What makes it so enticing are the unique Pokémon that can be found there and the new mechanics introduced in the Secret Base. You are free to decorate this space however you like, including the option of displaying statues of the various Pokémon you find. Like the Pokémon themselves, there are shiny statues, which are just as hard to get as the real thing. However, you want these pristine statues for more than just decoration. Here’s how you can get to the Shining Statues Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shiny Pearl.

What do Shining Statues do?

If you’re familiar with the concept of rare Shiny Pokémon, the same idea roughly translates to Shiny Statues. Regular statues, in short, will affect the chances of encountering Pokémon that share the same type as the statues you place in your Secret Base while in the Great Underground. The more statues of the same type you place, the higher the chances.

Glowing statues can be identified by being a reflective green instead of the usual stone gray. However, they unfortunately have no direct impact on encountering real Great Pokémon. Instead, Shining Statues have exactly the same effect as a regular statue, except that each of them has a higher effect, roughly twice that of a regular statue. This means you can maximize your space when setting up your secret base by landing as many shiny statues as possible for the most effective boost.

How to get awesome statues

Although Shiny Statues are not directly related to Shiny Pokémon, they are almost as difficult to find. While the odds are usually low, there are ways you can guarantee your chances of finding them while searching for great statues.

Step 1: Fill your Diglett meter. By encountering Digletts while exploring the Grand Underground, you can collect pink sparkles that will fill the meter located below your map. The meter goes from 0 to 40, with each Diglett you find adding one to the count – and Dugtrio adding three. After the meter fills up, you’ll get a message that reads, “Maybe something good will happen in the Great Underworld!”

Step 2: Dig up the beautiful stone box. While your Diglett meter’s effect is active, which lasts about four minutes, you’re guaranteed to get a Beautiful Stone Box while digging for fossils. Locate the nearest excavation site and play a mini-game, with the specific goal of finding and retrieving a beautiful stone box. They look like purple boxes with a symbol on them that refers to the type of Pokémon statue and are 3×3 in size on the mini-game grid.

During this four minute time period, if you are very quick and efficient, you may be able to dig up to six beautiful stone boxes before the time runs out.

Step 3: Open your box! The beautiful stone boxes always have a great statue inside, so claim your prize and place it in your base!

Step 4: Repeat. In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, you can collect more than 200 shiny statues, so you can spend a lot of time searching for them to find all your favorites.

Step 5: An optional way to speed up the whole process is to play with another person in Grand Underground. When more than one person is in the game, you’ll both share a Diglett meter instead of each having their own. This can make the recharge time go by much faster than hunting them alone.

While you can technically find Glorious Statues naturally, the odds are so low that, even on your own, it’s more time efficient to hunt down Diglettes and Dugtris to make sure you can dig up the Beautiful Stone Box while you hunt for fossils. The process is not complicated, but it can be time-consuming.

Also note that more great statues will be available to find once you unlock the National Pokédex after beating the main game, giving you even more reasons to hunt them down!
