How to increase friendship levels in Marvel’s Midnight Suns

Who doesn’t want to be best friends with a superhero? We’ve had plenty of opportunities to fight alongside many of our favorite heroes in various games, but none except Marvel’s Midnight Sun it only allows you to socialize and get to know them. While it may not sound like the most exciting thing in the game, raising your friendship level with these heroes gives you a tangible benefit when fists start flying. Here’s how to become best friends with all your favorite heroes Marvel’s Midnight Sun.

What are friendship levels?

Spider-Man lands ahead of the other heroes in Marvel's Midnight Sun.

In addition to getting glimpses of these iconic characters and seeing some otherwise hidden sequences, raising your friendship level will give you a huge advantage when you enter battle. Individual heroes will benefit from new and improved passive abilities, combo abilities, better stats, and new ability cards.

The benefits don’t end there. Raising the friendship level high enough among the entire lineup will increase your team’s friendship level for even more bonuses. This includes access to more combo abilities, the opening of the Gift Shop, and the ability to give compliments.

Friends

After each main mission, you’ll have the option to take one hero on a Hangout. You can choose from multiple things to do with each hero, so you have to choose a thing they’ll like to do or you could risk losing friendship XP with them.

Dialogue options

You will occasionally get different dialogue choices when talking to other characters. This can happen whenever you have a chance to talk to other characters, so always try to talk to everyone when you get the chance. You’ll usually want to choose the “nice” answer and agree with them to increase your friendship level, but some characters respond better to other options.

Sparring

Another thing you can spend your daytime hours in the abbey is sparring in the training yard. Whoever you choose to spar with, you’ll get light XP XP, but you’ll also get better XP if you take them with you on your next mission. You can only do this once a day and it costs credits, but it’s an easy way to get constant XP XP.

Greetings

Once you unlock the ability to give compliments, which is even weird to say, the option will appear when you approach the heroes in the abbey. Just don’t go overboard with leveling up heroes too quickly or you’ll eventually stop earning XP for it.

Refuges

Sanctuaries are a lot like hangouts, only instead of going to a specific activity, you invite the hero to another location around the abbey to relax. You can only use each sanctuary once with any hero, but for the cost you get twice the normal XP XP from the sanctuary as usual.

Gifts

After unlocking the gift shop, buy some nice gifts for your superpowered friends. There are tons of gifts, and you can even find them all around, but each hero has different tastes in gifts. To find out which gift they’ll love the most, check out our Marvel’s Midnight Suns Gift Guide.

Go on missions

Finally, nothing builds friendship like good old teamwork. Just by bringing heroes to a mission, they will eventually earn a small amount of friendship XP.
