Beauty, they say, is in the eye of the beholder. If you’ve seen the PlayStation 5, you may have noticed that it’s a huge console that stands out with its pure white color scheme. However, its bright and bold look may not be for everyone. Fortunately, Sony has released a range of replacement skins that give you the opportunity to change the look of your console to suit your style. It may sound intimidating at first, but it’s actually one of the easiest adjustments you can do, and it only takes a few minutes.
Before you start
First, the obvious part. Before you do anything on your PlayStation, make sure it’s properly turned off, unplugged, and if you’ve just played a game on it, given it time to cool down. Remove all USB cables and accessories and find a clean, dry surface to work on. Have your new skins on hand and ready to install – nobody wants a PlayStation in their living room.

The white plastic covers on the top and bottom of the PS5 snap into place, making it easy to remove. Place the console with the PS5 engraving in the upper right. Firmly press your thumb into the plastic just below the logo and slide the entire top panel to the left. The whole piece will fall out of your hand.

Turn your PlayStation over, with the front of the console still facing you. Grasp the top left corner of the plastic cover and press down again with your thumb. This time you will slide everything to the right. It should “crack” slightly and come off immediately. We’re ready to put on some new skins, but now might be a good time to clean up any dust or pet hair that’s accumulated on your console.
Install the bottom
Locate the bottom cover and align it to the right of the console. Slide it into place and press firmly with your thumb near the top left corner. A clicking sound will let you know the bottom is secure in place.
Install the new tip
Flip the console over, again with the PS5 logo on the top right. Align the lid so that the PS5 cutout is slightly to the left of the etched logo on the console. Slide the cover from left to right, pressing next to the logo. A final click will inform you that your work is done. Congratulations on having the most stylish PS5 in the world.
