Amazon Fire TV devices are among the best streaming devices you can buy. They’re reliable, easy to use, and offer access to the movies, TV shows, and sports we love, all with a few clicks of a button on the slim and reliable Fire TV remote. But from time to time you may need to reset your Amazon Fire TV remote. It doesn’t matter why. It happens (but hopefully not too often). The reason doesn’t matter.
The good news is that it’s easy to reset your Amazon Fire TV remote. So much so that it made it to our list of the most common problems with the Amazon Fire TV stick. (And how to fix them.)
But it’s important enough that we’ll throw it out on our own. Here’s how to reset your Amazon Fire TV remote.

How to reset most Fire TV remotes
There are actually several versions of the Amazon Fire TV remote in the wild. (You’ll also hear them referred to as Alexa remotes.) This should work for Alexa Voice Remote Pro, the third-generation Fire TV remote, and the second-generation Alexa Voice Remote Lite.
Step 1: Unplug the Fire TV power cord and then wait 1 minute. Count out loud. It’s more fun.
Step 2: Press and hold Left button, Menu button (it’s the one with the three lines) and back button — all at the same time. Hold them for 12 seconds. Again, count out loud.
Step 3: Release all three buttons and wait 5 seconds. Count in Spanish this time for a change of pace.
Step 4: Now remove the batteries from the remote.
Step 5: Turn your Fire TV back on and let it reboot.
Step 6: After it boots up and complains that the remote is not connected, put the batteries back in the remote.
Step 7: Now press Home button on your remote control. When you see the light on the remote flash blue, you should be good to go. If it doesn’t, press and hold Home on the remote control for 10 seconds. Count to yourself this time.

If you have a Basic Edition Remote
This method is basically the same as above, just a little different because the buttons are a little different.
Step 1: Press and hold Home button. Press the button at the same time Menu button (with three lines on it) three times.
Step 2: Let go Home button.
Step 3: Now press Menu button nine times. Count out loud as you do this.
Step 4: Remove the batteries from the remote control.
Step 5: Turn off your Fire TV device. Wait 60 seconds.
Step 6: Put the batteries back in the remote and turn the Fire TV back on.
Step 7: When the home screen appears, press and hold Home button for 40 seconds.

If you have the first generation Alexa Voice Remote
Here’s how to reset the first generation Alexa Voice Remote.
Step 1: Turn off your Fire TV device and wait 60 seconds.
Step 2: Press Left and button Menu simultaneously and hold them for 12 seconds.
Step 3: Release the buttons and count to five.
Step 4: Remove the batteries from the remote control.
Step 5: Turn your Fire TV back on.
Step 6: After he complains that he can’t see the remote control, put the batteries back in the remote control.
Step 7: Press Home button. If the remote is still not paired, press and hold Home button for 10 seconds.
None of that is too difficult, all things being equal. If you need to reset your Amazon Fire TV remote, it should take a minute or two. Just remember to count out loud.
