Although exclusive to the Pro models, Apple’s always-on display paid off, expanding on the fairly basic monochrome versions we’ve seen on Android devices over the years and coming with a full-color display of the display. lock, wallpaper and all.
As wonderful as the new always-on display is, though, there are some valid reasons why you might want to turn it off. In some situations, it may just be distracting, or you may find that your iPhone loses battery life by leaving it on all the time.
Shortly after the launch of the iPhone 14 line, a significant number of new owners found that the always-on display was consuming too much power. While this wasn’t a problem for everyone, and problems seem to be much less common today (those early reports may have been the result of a bug in iOS 16.0 that Apple has since fixed), it’s still something worth considering. How to turn off the always-on display on your iPhone 14 Pro
Regardless of which version you have, iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max, the steps to turn off Always-On Display are the same. Always-on display will be on by default when you first set up your phone, so if you want to turn it off, you can do so as soon as you can unlock your device.
Step 1: Open settings app on your iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Also, your iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max will dim when you lock the screen, just like any other iPhone model. If you want to reactivate the always-on display, simply repeat the steps above and turn it back on.

How to mute the always-on display on your iPhone 14 Pro (iOS 16.2 or later)
One of the best aspects of an always-on display on a smartphone is the ability to see the time at a glance without having to wake up the phone by pressing a button or touching the screen. However, some would argue that the iPhone’s always-on display can be a bit of a clutter compared to those found on most other smartphones.
The good news is that if you prefer this minimalist look, Apple added two new options in iOS 16.2 that let you tone things down by removing the background, disabling notifications, or both. This can also help you minimize any potential impact on battery life without turning off the always-on display entirely, though in our tests we’ve found these savings to be negligible at best.

Disabling both options leaves you with nothing but a clock when your iPhone screen is locked and asleep, giving you the most minimalist look possible. Leaving the background enabled without notifications offers a similar clean style that only shows the time and your chosen background, tinted and adjusted for the best look.
On the other hand, allowing notifications on your always-on display can mess things up a bit depending on how many you normally get and how you use the focus modes. It will also show the current focus mode at the bottom when one is enabled.
How to turn off the always-on display at certain times and places (iOS 16.4 or later)
Speaking of focus modes, Apple added a handy new feature in iOS 16.4 that lets you include your always-on display in the list of things it affects when you switch to another mode.
Always-on display was always disabled when using Sleep Focus, but now you can turn it off in any focus mode, such as during work or sleep.
Since focus modes can be set to automatically turn on and off based on time and location, you can also use this to control when and where the always-on display is used. It can also be used to enable the always-on display, so you can set it to be off by default while it’s active at certain times of the day or week, or in certain locations.

Step 4 – If you have decided to create a new focus, follow the steps to select the type of preset focus you want to create, such as physical activity, play, or mindfulness, or select Balanced to enter your own name, color, and icon for Focus.

Step 5 – On the focus details screen, scroll to the bottom and select add a filter.

Step 7 – Toggle the switch on the next screen on or off depending on how you want the always-on display to behave when this approach is active.
Step 8: Choose To add from the top right corner to add a new setting to your focus.

Step 9 – The selected always-on display setting will take effect every time you manually activate Focus. You can set the focus to activate at a specific location or at a specific time by selecting it add schedulepicking out Time either Placeand then fill in the appropriate information.
