A police officer at the border would suddenly and violently make this gesture towards a colleague on the train.

Two investigations, judicial and administrative, were initiated following a complaint by a Border Police (PAF) agent, who accused one of his colleagues of having suddenly been subjected to strangulation, a controversial interrogation technique, as learned this Friday from multiple sources.

According to the victim’s account, a peacekeeper, member of the United National Escort, Support and Intervention Unit (Unesi) of the border police, the events occurred on June 19 on a commuter train heading to the Gare de Lyon in Paris.

As described by Le Parisien, which revealed the case, the debate between colleagues would lead to interrogation techniques, and in particular to what are known as key bottlenecks, including Interior Minister Christophe Castaner, who later announced his resignation, because it was too dangerous.

According to a police source, another PAF agent, who belonged to a different unit than the victim’s, would ask to be able to experiment with this technique to see if it worked correctly, since he had not practiced since the police academy.

then he would make this gesture suddenly and violently, and now his colleague on the floor despite repeated requests to stop hugging, because he could no longer be there, breathe, or speak. The other officers present in the car are then used to stop the incident by controlling his colleague.

The officer in question “removed missions on public roads”

Police said they did not know the colleague was behind the key bottlenecks, but simply said during a previous call that she was “too zen” to join Unesi. She decided to file a complaint and the Bobignya State Prosecutor’s Office opened a criminal investigation, entrusted to the General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN).

According to the Information Service of the National Police (Sicop), the Central Directorate of the Border Police (DCPAF) already began an administrative investigation on June 20 to determine professional misconduct in this folder.
