Irma Garcia was one of two elementary school teachers killed in the shooting at Robb Elementary School. A student who survived the shooting described the shooter. She explained: “She shot the door of the person next door. We have a door in the middle. He opened it. He walked in, crouched down a little bit and said, said, ‘It’s time for you to die.’

The attacker reportedly barricaded himself in the classroom and opened fire on the people inside. In the end, he killed Iram, her co-teacher, and the other 19 students.

She also spoke about her Aunt Irma to the Washington Post, saying: “It wasn’t just her students. These were her children, and she risked her life. She lost her life to protect them. That’s the kind of person she was.”
