Who is Luka Magnotta?
Luka Magnotta, originally named Eric Clinton Kirk Newman and born on July 24, 1982, is a Canadian who was found guilty of committing the heinous act of murder. Their investigation led them to the conclusion that the perpetrator was located in Canada, and their efforts proved invaluable to the authorities when Lin Jun’s body was finally discovered. After that, Magnotta managed to flee the country and seek refuge in a hotel in Bagnolet, France.
Although the police followed Luka’s movements, he had already fled when they arrived at the scene. Eventually, German authorities arrested Luka at an internet cafe in Berlin, Germany.
Due to the severity of Luke’s crimes, commercial airlines refused to fly him back to Canada, forcing him to return on an Air Force plane. In a surprising twist in the case, Luka claimed that he was forced to commit these heinous acts by an individual named Emmanuel ‘Manny’ Lopez.
Killing Lin Jun
On May 25, 2012, an extremely disturbing video titled ‘1 Madman, 1 Ice Spike’ was uploaded to Begstore.com, showing the brutal stabbing and subsequent dismemberment of a man. A group of online users, who were already actively searching for Luka because of his previous videos of him killing kittens, used a variety of investigative techniques in their quest to identify the killer.
In the video, Luka is shown standing on top of Lin Jun. Luka proceeds to dismember the victim’s body and engages in further disturbing acts, including feeding the dog meat and killing the puppy.
In addition, Luka sent the victim’s left leg to the Conservative Party of Canada, and then his right hand to the Liberal Party. Lin Jun’s head was eventually retrieved from a small lake in Montreal’s Angrignon Park.
Despite Luca Magnotta’s confession, he pleaded not guilty to murder on the basis of his schizophrenia. He was found to be diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and histrionic personality disorder.
