Is there going to be a John Wick: Chapter 5? Here’s what we want to see happen

Now that John Wick: Chapter 4 premiered in theaters, audiences were left wondering what was next for the iconic action film franchise. This fourth film established the perfect conclusion for the John Wick story, and so did the fifth John Wick the film got the green light as early as 2020.

Will it happen? Who knows, but with all new characters, superb action scenes and complex world building Chapter 4, it would be a crime not to make more movies in the Wick universe. It should John Wick: Chapter 5 come true, here are five things I want to see happen in the movie.

Note: This article contains spoilers for John Wick: Chapter 4.

The return of Mr. Nobody

Among the many new characters in Chapter 4, one of the few who stands out is a mysterious assassin known only as Mr. Nobody. This tracker is hired by the Marquis de Gramont to hunt down and kill Wick, but he does everything he can to raise the bounty as much as possible in advance. Although Mr. Nobody starts off as an antagonist in this film, he shows a weakness for his trusty attack dog, making him more of a reflection of Wick than a true enemy.

After John decides to save the dog from being shot, Mr. Nobody repays him by saving his life from one of Marquis’ killers. In the end, Mr. Nobody is one of the most righteous characters in the John Wick universe and it would be nice to see him pop up again in the future as a supporting protagonist similar to Winston and the Bowery King.

Caine vs. Akira

Although Chapter 4 Seemingly bringing down the curtain on the John Wick story, the film still has a post-credits scene where newcomer Akira approaches an unsuspecting Caine with a hidden knife. It’s clear that Akira wants revenge because Caine killed her father, Koji, when he infiltrated his hotel, the Osaka Continental, earlier in the film.

It won’t be a surprise if the studio gives Caine and Akira their own movie in the future, since the franchise is already developing spinoffs like the Ana de Armas movie Ballerina and Paunova Continental. While it would be exciting to see Akira fight for revenge against Caine, it would also be interesting to see the two form a reluctant alliance to take down their common enemy.

Demolishing the high table

In the fourth film, it is said that John’s victory in the duel with Gramont will shake the High Table to its foundations. Since the story ends with John breaking free from the high table after killing the Marquis, who knows what will happen next? The fact that he was able to beat this council at their own game could cause the criminal underworld to erupt into all-out war.

The High Table has made many enemies in its relentless pursuit of John, exterminating those who help or even speak to him as he tries to uphold his laws. At the same time, this dark council seems to be slowly destroying itself through all these executions, having undoubtedly lost the support of those it fought against. And now that the council has freed and killed John Wick, he may become a martyr for those frustrated with the council, setting the stage for widespread rebellion.

The return of John Wick?

Although John Wick appears to have died from his wounds at the end Chapter 4, his body was never seen buried in the ground. Despite Winston and King Bowery’s final conversation at John’s grave questioning whether he is in heaven or hell, it is possible that John faked his own death and decided to leave the web, allowing him to live a life hidden from the gaze of the high table.

This may seem far-fetched, but with these Hollywood blockbusters, the audience never knows what the filmmakers will do to keep the story going. And while director Chad Stahelski claims that he and Keanu Reeves are done with creating a new one John Wick movies for now, both will consider returning if they like the studio’s plans for a sequel.

A look at ‘mission impossible’

In the first John Wick movie, Russian mob boss Viggo Tarasov revealed that he forced John to complete an “impossible task” so he could retire and live peacefully with his wife Helena. This task involved John destroying all of Tarasov’s enemies in one night. John also got help in completing this mission from Santino D’Antoni, the villain from the other movie.

All in all, John’s “mission impossible” is the equivalent of Han Solo making the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs, and it would be interesting to see John accomplish this mission, either through a brief flashback or a full movie. While some may argue that it’s better to keep the “mission impossible” a secret, one can’t help but wonder what it was like for John and everyone he encountered that fateful night.
