James Arness’ career
James’ brother Peter visited him while he was recovering from a leg injury in the hospital. Peter advised his brother to take a radio course during his long recovery. Like James finished the course and started to enter the entertainment industry thanks to a teacher’s recommendation. In 1945, he worked as a broadcaster for WLOL. In Minnesota, WLOL is a radio station near the Twin Cities.
His career as a radio performer flourished. On the contrary, he pursued acting as another entertainment career option. And he had to work harder before appearing in more than 30 films over 40 years.
James started his career with a supporting role in a movie on the recommendation of a friend. In addition, he went to the Bliss-Hayden Theater School where Harry Hayden taught.
