May 9, 2022 premiered on Hulu Sweet is a crime drama miniseries that explores the real life of Candy Montgomery, a suburban housewife accused of murdering her friend Betty Gore. Jessica Biel plays Candy Montgomery, Melanie Lynskey plays Betty Gore, Pablo Schreiber plays Betty’s husband, and there are many other minor characters in this story.
As you’re already familiar with the story, according to reports in Texas Monthly, Allan wanted to continue seeing Candy, but was consumed with guilt in late 1979 when Betty gave birth to their second daughter, Bethany, around that time. Candy, on the other hand, wasn’t happy to break her two-week ritual, but she relented. Despite this, Allan took care of his wife and his family, which is why the romance ended.
“I wasn’t really in love with Candace. As far as I was concerned, it was just a little joke for fun. She wanted her to be the same, but she fell in love anyway,” Allan said during police questioning.
Meanwhile, Candy was only with Pat until their two children were grown and she planned to divorce Pat after that.
And seven months after this “breakup”, Betty decided to warn Candy not to see her husband anymore. One went on, they had a verbal argument, Betty went to the garage and grabbed an axe, and the rest is history.

Meet Jason Montgomery, son of Candy Montgomery
Before Betty Gore’s murder on June 13, 1980, Candy Montogomery was married to Pat Montgomery (Timothy Simmons) and had two adorable children with him, Becky and Jason Montgomery. However, these names are just made up. Her real names are Jennifer and Ian.
Jason in the real world is Ian P Montgomery. However, respecting the decision of the creators to keep the true identity of these children a secret, we will continue to refer to Jason and Jennifer as them in the rest of this text as well.
It’s unclear how old Jason and his sister were when their mother was involved in the infamous murder. What we do know is that they had a normal life and were extremely close to their parents, active in the community and at church events, and just living the best life possible before everything changed.
Candy was happily married to Pat, at the time one of the brightest young electrical engineers at Texas Instruments. After the wedding, they moved to the village in 1977, and before that both children were born. Everything was normal and Candy was even very much in love with her husband before he got “madly bored”. They began to fight frequently and these fights eventually led to Candy cheating on her husband with Betty’s husband, Allen Gore.

Candy’s two children were brought into court during her murder trial in 1980. During her trial, her husband was also by her side. And there was apparently no evidence to suggest that Candy was anything more than a doting mother to Jason and his sister. Therefore, due to her embarrassment and self-defense, the jury found Candy not guilty on October 30, 1980. So the family moved from Wiley, Texas to the new state of Georgia, where they apparently continue to live.
Candy and Pat eventually divorced, and Candy began using her maiden name as her last name.
On his Facebook, Jason lists Marietta, Georgia as his hometown and Atlanta, Georgia as his current residence.
Speaking of where Jason is today, he, his sister, dad, and mom (who are presumably divorced) have preferred to stay out of the limelight. Candy lives in Dawsonville, GA, while her father probably lives in Saint Simmons Island, Georgia.
Years later, since living the nightmare with his family, Jason, now an adult and approaching fifty, seems to have come to terms with his memories of the past.

Jason Montgomery, the younger of Candy and Pat’s two children, was born in October 1974. So, in 2021, he turned 47 years old. His sister, on the other hand, arrived one day in September. in 1972.
