Netflix has released its three-part documentary Waco: American Apocalypse, the story of the infamous 51-day siege pitting the FBI against the self-proclaimed messiah, just in time for the 30th anniversary of the massacre. In its series, Netflix covers in detail the events that occurred at the time through the eyes of a few. Jim, whose full name is James Cavanaugh, has long since retired from his profession. Still, he went on to bring up things that needed to be addressed, including things like gun laws.

Jim Cavanaugh’s career
It came as no surprise when Jim Cavanaugh was able to get a job with the ATF. Just a few years later, he began his federal career in the diverse city of Nashville, Tennessee. He appears to have stayed here for 8 years before being promoted to permanent agent in Kansas. After that, he found himself in the Department of Explosives and the Department of Special Operations in Washington.
Soon after, he was seen becoming an assistant general agent in Dallas, Texas. Shortly thereafter, he returned to headquarters in Washington to assume the position of deputy chief of the Explosives Division. He then went on to pilot the Birmingham Division, which eventually helped him run the entire Nashville office.
Thus, he actively served his nation under the ATF banner for more than 33 years. He retired at the age of 57 in March 2010.
Jim Cavanaugh’s Wife
Jim Cavanaugh’s wife, Deborah ‘Debbie’ Parrott Cavanaugh, is no more. She passed away on October 20, 2021 at the age of 68. A Columbia native, Deborah was a student at Tennessee Tech University and worked for the late Senator Howard Baker and the US Department of Agriculture before she died.
She and Jim were married for over 42 years.
Additionally, Deborah is survived by her children: son James Matthew “Matt” Cavanaugh (married Kat Scudder) of Pittsburgh and daughter Jennifer Dawn (married Joel) Crima of Brentwood. She also left behind her daughter-in-law Kathleen Scudder, owner and creator of the so-called design studio. heavy eyesand son-in-law Joel Wesley Crim, who turned 45 in July 2022.
James M Cavanaugh turned 40 in June 2022. Second son Matt majors in art and design with a master’s degree in manufacturing and industrial design from the Pratt Institute. And his daughter Jennifer D Cavanaugh turned 38.
Deborah is the daughter of longtime Columbia resident Claudell Robbins Parrott and Harold Parrott. The first passed away in November 2018 and the second predeceased her in December 1988.
