Discovery Channel has introduced a new show called “The Mighty Underdogs.” The show featured young men and women joining the show to showcase their skills as a Junior Handler. Of course children will need help, so here we have Jody Davidson, a professional dog trainer to train teenagers.

The show will pit young teens against each other to secure a spot at the AKC National Championships and the Westminster Dog Show. So Jody’s job is to guide these kids to get the job done. Some of the young contestants are Emerson (13 years old), Turner (16 years old) who only has a little time before she can’t compete due to her age, Camryn (13 years old) who has a pomeranian named Kevin, Lily (13 years old) who has social anxiety but definitely loves showing off her dog Gnarly.

Over the years, Jody has worked with various companies as a dog trainer and has honed her skills. She worked as a CPDT-KA dog trainer for Dr. sc. Obedience. She began training dogs in 1963 at the age of 11. During her career, Jody has won over 32 AKC Guide Dog titles, 8 Excellent Guide Dog titles and 4 Assistance Dog titles, as well as over 64 AKC Championship, Rally and Obedience titles.

Jody is also a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers and is certified as a dog trainer by the Certification Board for Professional Dog Trainers. Additionally, Jody has served as an AKC Canine Good Citizen, Canine Good Citizen Advanced, and STAR Puppy Evaluator.

In addition, Jody is also part of a select group of AKC testers who are eligible for temperament testing. She is one of the most successful coaches of junior showmanship competitors in the country, whose sons regularly qualify for state finals and rank among the top juniors in the country.
