K. Annamalai is a politician from Tamil Nadu, India. He is currently the chairman of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tamil Nadu. He is a former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, served as Inspector General of Police (IGP) Coimbatore Range.
Annamalai was born in Tenkasi, Tamil Nadu in 1973. He studied at the National Police Academy in Hyderabad and was appointed an IPS officer in 1996. He has served in various capacities in the police force. , including the posts of Superintendent of Police (SP) of Coimbatore and Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) of the Tirunelveli range.
In 2017, Annamalai resigned from the police force to join politics. He joined BJP and was elected to Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly in the 2019 election from Tenkasi constituency. He has been appointed state president of the BJP in 2021.
Annamalai is a popular figure in Tamil Nadu politics. He is known for his hardline stance on law and order as well as his pro-Hindu views. He is also considered a potential future Minister of Tamil Nadu.
In the Tamil Nadu Legislative Council elections of 2021, Annamalai was re-elected from Tenkasi constituency. He won by more than 40,000 votes.
