Karnataka Rajyotsav Awards 2023: Karnataka celebrates 50 years of its foundation. The day commemorates the unification of the Kannada-speaking regions of southern India into the state of Karnataka.

Karnataka Rajyotsav 2023: Karnataka Rajyotsava also known as Karnataka Formation Day is a state festival. The annual celebration on November 1 commemorates the formation of Karnataka as a state. On this day in 1956, a separate state was formed for the Kannada speaking people including parts of Mysore, Bombay and Hyderabad. And on the golden jubilee this year, Karnataka CM Sidaramaiah revealed the list of Kannada Rajyotsava award winners for the year 2023.
The highly regarded Kannada Rajyotsava Award honors the rich cultural heritage of Karnataka. This award is given to persons who have significantly advanced the literature, art or culture of the Kannada language. Shivaraj Tangadagi, Minister of Kannada and Culture, said the department had received more than 2,000 applications for the award, which consists of a plaque, 25 grams of gold and a cash prize of ₹5 lakh.
The list of winners includes thirteen women, thirteen members of minorities, and one person who identifies as a third gender, along with 41 men. A committee headed by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah selected all the winners and on November 1 at Ravindra Kalakshetra he will felicitate the winners.
