Her claim comes weeks after Russell Brand was accused of sexually assaulting and raping multiple women.

Speaking on today’s show, Ryan told host Lauren Laverne that she once “wrestled” whether or not to work with the “dangerous” comic – who she declined to name.

The comedian said she had to decide whether to work with “someone who I believe is a perpetrator of sexual assault” – or turn down performances.

Ryan recalled, “I believe that person was or is dangerous.

“I had a choice. I could have gone to work with someone I believed to be the perpetrator of the sexual assault, or I could have refused the job.

“Those were my options. So I struggled with it. What should I do in that case?

“Am I meeting someone I think these things about?”

The 40-year-old declined to name the comic, but added that she personally never had a problem with them.

She continued: “No, I have never been attacked.

“The choice is do I go to work with someone who I think is very problematic and do I stand there and laugh and smile and look like I’m letting that person continue to be on television or do I stay home?”

Ryan admitted that it was a difficult call for her.

She continued: “That’s what I struggled with the most because I believe that person was or is dangerous, but also what will I change if I stay at home?

“So I decided, my compromise was that I would go, but that I would let him know in no uncertain terms what I thought of him, I wouldn’t just smile and look like I was condoning such behavior.

“I’m not going to let him think I don’t know and everyone he works with is just going to let him get away with it.”

I had a choice – I could go work with someone I believed to be a sexual abuser or I could refuse the job.

On reflection, Ryan said she decided to tell the comic what she thought of him.

When Lauren asked what the man’s reaction was, the comedian said: “He didn’t have a reaction, I don’t know if I did it that way.

“I’m not sure if he… he certainly didn’t have an obvious reaction.”

It comes weeks after Ryan responded to the fallout over the allegations against Brando.

Days earlier, she joked about the “elephant in the room.”

Ryan appeared on The Sun’s Who Cares Wins after it was revealed she had called Brand out for being an alleged “predator”.

Last year, she revealed that she confronted a co-star on popular television because she believed he was an abuser.

Ryan said at the time that she could not name the person because it was a “litigation nightmare” and added that they did not attack her.

Brand has since been revealed to be their colleague, and the comments were made while they were judges on Comedy Central’s 2018 Roast Battle.
