Nigerian Nollywood actress Kemi Afolabi says she suffers from lupus, a long-term disease that causes joint pain, skin rashes and fatigue.

The 44-year-old woman said that the doctor told her that she only had five years to live and she had already lived one of them.

“I have lupus. It’s not curable. You just have to take medication for the rest of your life.Well,” Kemi Afolabi said dinterview with media personality Chude Jideonwo.

“Make sure you’re with your loved ones. You’re at least five years older.”

Why did the doctor tell Kemi Afolaba that she would live for five years?

Since lupus cannot be cured, according to Kema, he spent 1.2 million naira on treatment, but there was little to no change and he was in constant pain.

The writer-director, who rose to fame after appearing in several Yoruba films, was diagnosed with the disease in 2021 but kept her illness a secret.

Lupus patients experience symptoms such as joint stiffness, pain, fatigue, confusion, and depression. Inflammation can affect different systems in the body, including the joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart, and lungs.

Patients are advised to avoid fried foods, commercial cakes, creamy soups and sauces, red meat, animal fat, processed meat products, and high-fat dairy products due to their high saturated fat content. . Examples include whole milk, half and half, cheese, butter, and ice cream. One of the foods to avoid is alfalfa sprouts.

While still in college, Kemi Afolabi developed an interest in acting. She was invited to participate in a theatrical production by students from the Creative Arts Department.

She is best known for her role in the film Alagba, but she stopped acting in 2008.
