Meet Kevin Rieck, Partner of Sam Brinton
Kevin Rieck married the love of his life, Sam Brinton, on January 18, 2019. It was the best day of Kevin’s life as he wore blue while his partner wore a red coat.
After the wedding, the duo went on several trips; the last one that year went to Berlin, Germany. “Had a truly epic weekend with my husband in Berlin. A beautiful moment with a beautiful man,” Sam wrote alongside an IG photo of them under the Brandenburg Gate.
Also, continuing their adventure, the two were seen taking a tour of the Washington DC Temple in May 2022.
On their third wedding anniversary, Sam wrote on his IG, “It’s a sweet game for us, but words mean a lot. Through one of the most difficult years of our lives, we kept the candle burning (stronger than ever, I might add). I really think it could be forever. And I will continue to love him more (or as close to him as possible). Happy anniversary to the man of my dreams, Kevin Rieck.”
Likewise, the following month, Kevin returned her love on FB, saying he was “unforgivably in love with [his] husband.” Then nothing people will change that for him. “No combination of vile words squirted by your spit or clumsily smashed against a keyboard will hurt me or make me think less of myself or Sam. Find another outlet for your uninformed and senseless hate,” he added.
And he was true to his word when Sam was accused of stealing passenger luggage from the Minneapolis airport in September 2022.
In case you missed the drama, Sam was charged with theft after he allegedly stole a Vera Bradley trunk worth $2,325 from luggage in the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport. As seen on surveillance camera, Sam grabbed the luggage, removed the identification tag identifying the owner, and was later seen using the suitcase on at least two occasions.
Sam said in his defense that the suitcase was taken by mistake due to exhaustion. And when they realized that, they got nervous, emptied their luggage and left the person’s clothes in the dresser drawers in the hotel room.
Sam was truly confused. But with Kevin by his side, they felt they could weather any storm. “In a really difficult week, I am grateful for a man who loves me as I am. Thank you Kevin for the smile and hugs,” they once wrote.

Kevin Rieck worked as a copy and print supervisor at Staples, a Massachusetts-based online marketplace that allowed people to buy office products like printers, computer peripherals, and furniture.

As for his education, Kevin graduated from the University of South Florida in 2013.
On the other hand, Sam has double degrees in nuclear science and engineering, as well as technology policy programs from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Kansas State University. They are well-known advocates for LGBTQ youth who also served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Office of Spent Fuel and Waste Management. There, they oversaw its programs, including the Office of Waste and Spent Fuel Science and Technology and the Office of Integrated Waste Management.
Unfortunately, after the baggage scandal in 2022, Sam went on leave from the Office of Spent Fuel and Waste Management.
Previously, Sam also served as the first employee of the country’s first and only nuclear waste management and disposal startup, the Bipartisan Policy Center.
