It’s almost Christmas, and with excitement, our beloved Food Network competition show, the Christmas Cookie Challenge, is back for its sixth installment.
As in previous seasons, this year five bakers competed in each episode to show off their Christmas cookie-making skills and win the grand prize of $10,000. And they were judged by head judge Ree Drummond, who was joined by a rotating panel of judges Kimberly Bailey, James Briscione, Damiano Carrara, Dan Langan, Jamika Pessoa, Jordan Pilarski, Aarti Sequeira and Joy Wilson.
Among them, Food Network fans may recognize Dan Langan as a finalist in Season 2 of the Spring Baking Championship, and James Briscione is a four-time Food Network Champion.
Likewise, Kimberly is known for her time on Home & Family and the Christmas Cookie Challenge in 2017. We could say that she is a recurring judge on the show.
Her Food Network bio stated: “Kimberly Bailey is a baker, pastry chef and owner of The Butter End Cakery in Los Angeles. After moving from New York to Los Angeles in 2008, Kimberly was diagnosed with cancer. During this time she found her new love for cake decorating, getting lost in creating and testing new recipes and learning how to decorate them.”

It was 2008 when Kimberly felt a lump in her chest. But she didn’t really bother her because she had a history of cysts. However, on her way back to New York, she went to the gynecologist and was diagnosed with a benign tumor.
After a few months, he went to the doctor again and after multiple tests, they said it was a benign tumor. But since it was growing, he decided to have an excisional biopsy to remove the entire tumor. Unfortunately, they found the tumor to be malignant.
And the baker was pregnant at the time. So she made plans with her doctors for Bailey to give birth a little earlier so she could start chemotherapy as soon as possible.
Did you know: Kimberly’s mentor, Susan Carberry, who asked her to be on her (winning) team at Ultimate Cake Off when she was diagnosed with cancer, herself was diagnosed with cancer in October 2022.
