Kirby and the Forgotten Land Colosseum guide and rewards

Kirby titles are known to be kid-friendly. The pink bloated character is anything but invincible in most games, even when he can “die”, as in Kirby And Forgotten Land, there is almost no punishment when this happens. The adventure is meant to be more of a fun, carefree, light-hearted game through some inventive stages, simple puzzles, and perhaps mildly challenging (at best) boss battles. However, almost all Kirby games acknowledge that some people are looking for a deeper challenge in those games, and while they may not push you to your absolute limits, they can give you some good stamina.

Kirby and the forgotten land There’s plenty of endgame content – again, a Kirby staple – but the biggest draw for most challenge seekers will undoubtedly be the Colosseum. This battle arena will test you more than any normal stage in the game through a challenge consisting of multiple rounds of tough mini-bosses, normal bosses, and even unique bosses that can only be found there and put normals to shame. If you’re not prepared for the increased difficulty, it can come as quite a surprise to the normal Kirby player. Don’t worry, because Kirby is one resilient ball of joy, especially when he soaks up all the information in our Colosseum guide.

Note: There will be spoilers for the bosses, including the final and unique bosses. Kirby and the forgotten land goes ahead

How to open the Colosseum

Kirby talks to commentator Waddle Dee.

Like any other location in Waddle Dee Town, you will need to unlock this location. However, instead of just salvaging a series of Waddle Dees on different levels Kirby and the forgotten land, the Colosseum is unlocked based on progressing to a certain point in the game. To unlock this arena for your battle pleasure, progress through the game until you clear the Wondaria Remnant area and beat the Danger Under the Big Top quest at the end. When you do, you’ll be notified that the Colosseum is available for battle, allowing you to fight for great rewards.

Once you open it up, just head to Waddle Dee Town, walk up to the Colosseum and you can start sipping on the different cups on offer. There are three cups in total, but only one is available to start with, which is the Meta Knight Cup. To unlock the next cup, the Ultimate Cup, you must not only beat the Meta Knight Cup, but also complete the main story of Kirby and the forgotten land and continue after rush hour. The final cup, Ultimate Cup Z, is only unlocked if you complete the Ultimate Cup first and get the true ending. To get this ending, you need to complete Isolated Islands: Forgo Dreams, which is divided into seven different stages.

coliseum tips

The metal knight strikes a pose.

In any mug, it’s always a good idea to treat yourself to a Waddle Dee Goods Shop before you head inside. Remember that each buff, attack, defense, or speed can be increased five times for greater effect.

You’ll be the underdog for the Meta Knight Cup because you may not have done everything else in the game, but you certainly didn’t get the great rewards of winning the cups. For your first check, we have come with the ability ready to copy Volcano Fire. He has very high damage but also great range and can inflict a burning status to deal damage over time, perfect for taking out larger health bars. Once you beat this crystal, the Meta Knight Sword skill is the next one you’ll use for the replay because it has super high damage, plus a ranged attack as long as you’re at full HP.

Between each round, secure and heal with Maximum Tomato. Using one will replace it with a plain orange in later rounds, but there are enough to use one between each round without running out, so eat it up.

Meta Knight himself will be the hardest part of this cup. While the game tempts you to immediately grab the sword from him at first, keep your existing copy ability in place. You don’t want to be around most of the time. Dress around him to avoid him as he fires his sword and keep an eye on him when he launches into his big slash attack. If it hits, it will play a cutscene and immediately reduce you to half your HP.

Once he drops below half health, Meta Knight will summon rocks that fall into the arena. They are easy to avoid based on their shadows, so stay in the light.

The Ultimate Cup is a big step up in the challenge. This time, it’s twice as many rounds, 12 in all, which now forces you to fight all the bosses in the main game. Like the Meta Knight Cup, the first nine rounds are random mini-bosses, followed by round 10, which is a fight against Leongar, 11 against Fecto Gorgo, and 12 against Fecto Elfilis.

Depending on your confidence level, go into this cup with the copy abilities of Blizzard Ice or Dragon Fire. Blizzard Ice is great because it allows you to completely block and nullify most of the damage, but it comes at the cost of less damage and longer fights. Dragon Fire, on the other hand, has great damage and range, plus it can cause burns. The jump attack is great for quick maneuvering and dodging, although it requires a bit more skill.

For this cup, make sure you have at least three tomatoes max waiting between rounds for the last three rounds. Trust us, you will need it.

Finally, for Ultimate Cup Z, we have 12 more grueling rounds of battle. We start with the usual first nine random minibosses, but round eight will always be Phantom Meta Knight, until round 10 where you face Forgo Leon, round 11 against Morpho Knight and the final round against Chaos Elfilis. Chaos Elfilis is somewhat unique in that it has two different forms. For the first form, focus on dodging his javelin for an easy counter, dodge the projectiles and engage quickly when he tries to heal to prevent him from recovering. Once it transitions into its second form, which now looks like a large orb, get ready to run out of the black hole it creates on the stage. After that, dodge towards the boss to avoid being constantly attacked by two laser beams and use the beams to get out of the way when he summons meteors.

At this point, you will have the Morpho Knight Sword, which is the only option for this trophy. He can destroy those first few bosses in one or two hits, plus he restores health after getting hit.

Speaking of numbers, the last unlock you get for beating Ultimate Cup Z is a new Waddle Dee called Trader Waddle Dee in Waddle Dee Town. This little guy sits next to the gotcha machines and will allow you to trade your rare gems for more characters. This is a perfect way to fill in the missing figures in your collection, though the ones it gives you will still be random, and the ones with special requirements cannot be earned this way. As long as you don’t have more abilities to spend your rare stones on upgrades, this is a decent use for any accessory you might have.
