Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler are still learning how to navigate their “fresh” co-parenting relationship a year after their split.

The Colorado native, who found out about the divorce from her own parents, urged ex-partners “to not put the kids in the middle of this, no matter how angry they are at the ex-spouse.”
Cavallari explained: “One thing was my mom, she never said anything bad about my dad. Now that I’m older, I really admire that. I want my kids to see me and Jay as a united front. He’s their dad. That’s it important and you should observe it from me”.
She and the 38-year-old former professional soccer player ended their relationship in April 2020. The former Laguna Beach student wished the athlete a Happy Father’s Day two weeks later.

Cutler returned the favor on Mother’s Day, posting a sweet snapshot of his ex-wife wearing their three children, Camden, 8, Jaxon, 7, and Saylor, 5, on Sunday, May 9.

Divorcing Cutler has made Cavallari “a much better mom,” she told HollywoodLife in April, explaining, “Now I have my kids half the time. So when I have them all week, I’m incredibly present. I don’t I’m distracted. By my phone or stuff. I’m with them. If a person has a tantrum or something like that, I stay calm because I understand that I’m going to lose them in a few days.”
Court records obtained by Us Weekly in May 2020 show that the exes split custody down the middle with each having their children 182.5 days a year. Each parent is allowed 2 phone calls per week and 2 FaceTime or Skype calls if the other parent has custody.
