Jeff and Hadley were reported to have dated for over 10 years until they broke up around 2020. However, according to company sources, there were “no rumors of an affair” involving Jeff at the company. “Almost no one knew that there was an investigation,” the source said, “and even fewer knew that the matter actually existed.”
Everyone was apparently shocked to learn that Jeff had an affair with an employee, forcing him to resign as NBCU CEO in April 2023. After resigning, Jeff released a statement saying, “I had an inappropriate relationship with a woman in the company which I deeply regret. I’m so sorry I let my colleagues down at Comcast and NBCUniversal down.”
He was with the company for decades and only became CEO in 2020.

Laura Fay and Jeff Shell share two children. Her daughter, Anna Shell, graduated from Harvard-Westlake School in 2021, and at the time of writing, she was pursuing a graduate degree in political science at the University of Pennsylvania. She was supposed to graduate in 2025.
