These contestants compete for a grand prize of $1,070 (approximately 88,000 rupees). Last year, the record for lying down was set at 117 hours, but this year the competition lasted 20 days, and the contestants showed unrelenting perseverance, The New York Post reported.

As reported by Geo News, people are under care, and their health is taken care of. It is their sole responsibility to remain still as standing or sitting would result in immediate disqualification. They have 10 minutes every eight hours to use the toilet and can do things like read or use technological devices.

Dubravka Akšić, who won this competition in 2021, told CGTN that her family persuaded her to compete again and that it is quite easy for her because the organizers take care of all their needs. “I don’t see why they believed they could win this year as well. Since today is the twentieth day, neither I nor anyone else present here today expected it to last this long,” Akšić told CGTN.

Filip Knežević, a 23-year-old first-timer from the northern town of Mojkovac, also believes he could win. He told CGTN: “Of course, I have high hopes to win; that’s why I came. There is a lot of motivation and free time, and I feel great here.”

As the competition progresses, the contestants’ health remains good and they enjoy comfort while adhering to strict regulations.

This event in the small Adriatic country started 12 years ago to make fun of the prevailing stereotype that Montenegrins are lazy.
