Lightyear trailer finally gives Toy Story’s Buzz a real Space Ranger movie

Fans Toy story franchises already know that Buzz Lightyear has traveled to infinity and beyond, but now they’ll finally get to see some of the adventures that brought the space ranger into the Pixar universe.

Disney released the first trailer for Light year, a full-length animated film that promises to tell the “real story” behind the hero who inspired the Buzz Lightyear toy line from the Toy Story movies. Marvel Cinematic Universe actor Chris Evans will voice Buzz in the film, which looks to chronicle the character’s expedition into space in search of, well… we don’t know yet.

But there will be action, and humor, and even an alien, judging by the first glance in the film.

Described as “the definitive origin story of the hero that inspired the toy,” the film is likely to cause a stir in the short term, given that the film is basically a real-life version of a film that previously only existed in Toy. Along with choosing Evans to star in the film, Disney and Pixar announced it Light year will be directed by award-winning director Angus MacLane, who co-directed the 2016 film. Finding Dory.
