Her parents even added that they feel good about Lindsey’s application. Seeing that her daughter was doing “well and confidently,” her husband and wife were confident that Lindsey would “make it.”
And the child certainly is! Lindsey, from the start, never lost the lead, earning her the gold medal in women’s snowboard cross.
“She did it. She did it and it was amazing,” Anita said after the win. As for her father, she said they had been “waiting for this day for a while.”

The gold medalist’s proud father, Ben Jacobellis, had a major influence on his daughter’s passion. When Lindsey was just a child, she would often chase him down the slopes. And since Ben wouldn’t be waiting for her daughter, Lindsey didn’t have to be “afraid to go fast.”
“And my mom always thought, ‘You don’t have to stay with them, we can go to other races.’ And I said, ‘No. I like to go fast, I want to stick with them,'” Lindsey recalled.
Also, when Lindsey fell during the 2006 Olympics in Italy, moments before she secured her first gold medal, her father was there to witness it. He later assured her that there would always be another chance. “The sky’s the limit for Lindsey, you know? She always has been,” Ben said.
