While his father’s side of the family is more than three generations from San Francisco, his mother’s is from England. Marlene came to the United States very young with her brother Herman Martyn.

Meanwhile, Steve’s mother, Marlene, was born to his parents Sam and Rose Martyn. Family history has its roots in theater and cinema. Herman, Marlene’s brother, was also an actor and later switched his career to finance. He had two sons, Richard and Mark, and a daughter, Lee.
Sadly, Steve lost his mother Marlene in 1997, while his father Harold passed away on June 15, 2005 at the age of 80.
