Majek Fashek Dead: Singer of ‘Send Down The Rain’ Dies At 71

The Nigerian reggae singer, songwriter and guitarist who was behind a string of 1980s hits including “Send Down the Rain” and “Little Patience” died at the age of 71 on Tuesday, June 2, 2020.

His death was confirmed by his manager, Omenka Uzoma, via the late Fashek’s official Instagram account.

“Today we had calls under pressure, it is true that the legendary African ICON did not. 1 gone to be with the LORD, his Creator, we praise him, his accomplishments and his family, regardless of decisions made by his immediate family will be informed, Omenka Uzoma said.

He is the first Nigerian artist signed by Sony. He has worked with a number of artists from around the world, including Tracy Chapman, Jimmy Cliff, Michael Jackson, Snoop Dogg, and Beyoncé.
